Description

Experience Algeria’s long history as you visit its old cities and famous sites. Start in Algiers, where white buildings sit by the blue sea. Walk through the busy Casbah and see its narrow streets. Visit grand mosques and lively markets. Then head to Djemila and Timgad to see well‑preserved Roman ruins, with temples, theaters, and arches. In Constantine, built on high cliffs and joined by tall bridges, you’ll feel the energy of a city that’s been here for thousands of years. Finish by the sea in Tipaza, where ancient columns stand against soft, sandy beaches.

Next, dive into the Sahara Desert, where wide sand dunes and red‑colored towns seem from another world. In the M’Zab Valley near Ghardaïa, you’ll see five hilltop villages built by Mozabite Berbers, each with a tall minaret. In Timimoun, called the “Red Oasis,” stroll down narrow lanes lined with rose‑colored homes. Take a camel ride through the dunes and feel the soft sand beneath you. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Algiers

Welcome to Algiers, the vibrant capital of Algeria! Once you arrive, transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay and prepare for an unforgettable trip.

Day 2: Discovering Algiers

Spend the day exploring Algiers, known as the White City. Visit The National Museum of Antiquities and Islamic Arts and the Bardo Museum to learn about Algeria’s history. Wander through the UNESCO-listed Casbah and its narrow streets. Head downtown to see the seafront, Martyrs Square, El Djedid Mosque, Emir Abdelkader Square with its statue of Algeria’s founder, and the beautiful Grand Post building, known for its neo-Moorish architecture.

Day 3: Journey Through Roman Marvels of Djemila

Start early to travel through the Kabylie mountain range to Djemila, where you’ll visit two ancient basilicas and a baptistery. Enjoy a guided tour of Djemila, including the museum and site. After exploring the outstanding Roman ruins, continue your travel to Constantine for a two-night stay.

Day 4: Exploring Timgad’s Ancient Wonders

Depart early to make the most of your day. First, stop at Medghacen, an ancient Numidian tomb. Then, visit the UNESCO site of Timgad, founded by Emperor Trajan in AD 100, where you’ll explore the library, temples, amphitheater, Arch of Trajan, forum, houses, and basilicas. On your return, stop at Lambaesis to see the large legionary base before heading back to Constantine for the night.

This mornig, you will visit the hillside Roman site of Tiddis, which offers great views of the area. Explore the arch, the sanctuary of Mithras, a Christian basilica, and Roman houses. Return to Constantine for a city tour and visit the Cirta Museum. Spend half a day enjoying the city’s attractions, including the suspension bridges, Casbah, and Palace of Ahmed Bey. In the evening, take a flight to Ghardaia for a three-night stay in this exotic city.
