The old ksar of Mestaoua
Constitutes the historic heart of the town of Touggourt, dating from before the . The alleys are covered with trunks of palm trees. It has a few buildings attached to the old mosque, and a market surrounded by a rampart opening to the outside via three large gates: bab es-salem, bab lebled and bab lekdar.
The Great Mosque of Touggourt
Called Djamaa El-Atik () or Djamaâ El-Kebir, was founded by Sultan Ibrahim Ben-Djellab in 1805 (1220 AH). Located in the old ksar, it is made up of a large courtyard surrounded by arcades, as well as two small patios, a fountain, a large green dome and a square-shaped minaret.
